Compare Dave Tribby’s excellent list of letterpress resources today with the same list in 1995. It’s amazing how much the online letterpress community has blossomed. Even more amazing: that Dave has been updating this resource since 1994 (pre-Internet Explorer, pre-Netscape, from the era when you would use Mosaic to access the web). Way to go Dave!
Thanks to everyone who entered our Crazy Press Moving Contest. We were blown away by the bravery, courage, and creativity that letterpress printers muster up when forced to move really, really heavy equipment. You may laugh about how much snow we get in the winter (well, so do we), but our other three seasons in Syracuse more than make up for our hours of shoveling. The New York Times today profiled how well we eat while wandering Finger Lakes roads during the summer months. Yum!

Things were looking bad before Jasper showed up to help repair our Linotronic 560. About one hour after our Rochester-based (adult) service technician did his routine maintenance this morning, our imagesetter broke down for the first time in its two year stint at Boxcar Press. Coincidence? Bad timing? No matter, Jasper was still in Syracuse to help his dad and Anthony disassemble and reassemble the machine. We were back up and running before bed-time. And yes, Jasper is wearing his favorite t-shirt. If anyone is in need of imagesetter repair, Jasper’s rates are 30 blueberries/hour plus travel expenses (Cheerios).
