One of the great things about being a letterpress shop is you get really wonderful cards and little packages from other shops during the December holidays We've gotten CD's (in a letterpress case of course), scented coasters, unscented coasters, calendars, letterpress magnets, wrapping paper. So we've been meaning to send out company holiday cards for about, oh, eight or nine years. This year, we began months ahead of time, before the shopping malls began playing Christmas carols even. On some double-sided printing, we might choose to use a lighter impression on one of the sides so the impression doesn't distract. Here, we wanted the snowflakes to really show through on the other side. You can see some of the cool things letterpress can do on envelopes here. We can print across the fold of the flap. We can print on the backs of the envelopes. We can print all over the front of the envelopes (keeping USPS mailing guidelines in mind of course! We don't want to go too wild here). When we were printing these cards, no snow. When we mailed these cards out, no snow. Then February came, and we had snow snow snow. We like to think our cards had something to do with this. Designed and printed by Boxcar Press.
