To keep the photopolymer plates that we process in pristine condition, we need to put the plates into plastic ziplock bags before shipment. But plastic bags, we know, aren’t typically at the top of the list for being green. So we searched and searched for a better solution. And now we are pleased to welcome our custom-made, 100% recycled, biodegradable, and very pretty bags!
From this point on, any plate we process for you will be shipped to you in these cool bags. If you want to reuse your plates, store your plates in these bags and reuse them (or find other uses for the bags! They can hold dirty socks, or clean socks! They can hold your odds and ends. They can hold pretty things that are blue or green).
Here’s the technical data.
These bags are fully biodegradable in 9 to 60 months and will fully biodegrade either anaerobically or aerobically. This means that our plastic bags will degrade in landfills, when composted, buried in the ground or littered (but we know you won’t litter). These plastic bags meet the ASTM 1991 definition for degradable plastics which states that a degradable plastic is a plastic which degrades from the action of a naturally occurring micro-organism such as bacteria, fungi and algae. Biodegradation were tested using ASTM D5209-91 “Standard Test Method for Determining Aerobic Biodegradation of Plastic Materials in the Presence of Municipal Sewage Sludge”, ASTM D 5388.98, “Standard Test Method for Determining Aerobic Biodegradation of Plastic Materials under Controlled Composting Conditions”, which is equivalent to CEN prEN WI 261085, and the ISO 14855 method , “Evaluation of the Ultimate Aerobic Biodegradability and Disintegration of Plastics under Controlled Composting Conditions.”
