mounting rubber
Do you want your platemaker to process both steel-backed and plastic-backed plates? Then use this mounting rubber. Platemakers that use a magnetic sheet to hold plates during washout can't process plastic-backed plates. Our magnetic mounting rubber can temporarily attach on top of the platemaker’s magnetic panel and allow you to process both plastic and steel-backed plates. Simply attach our magnetic mounting rubber to the platemaker’s magnetic platen. Both plastic-backed and steel-backed polymer plates stick equally well to our mounting rubber. You may have to adjust brushes down to accommodate the extra thickness of the magnetic mounting rubber. This product is ideal for borrowed or community platemakers where permanent modification—adhering mounting rubber permanently to the platen-- isn’t possible. The 9 x 12 size fits an A4 platemaker. The 12 x 18 size fits an A3 platemaker. Between plates, you must dry the mounting rubber with a squeegee, or else the subsequent plates will not stick to the mounting rubber. Exclusive, assembled in the USA
If you're hand-washing your plastic-backed plates, you'll want to use our rigid mounting rubber. Plastic-backed plates curl up when wet. To keep them flat when hand-washing them, press your exposed plate on our rigid mounting rubber. Place this rigid panel with the attached plate in a basin of warm water, and then wash out with a wash out brush (like you would steel plates). After you're done washing out a plate, remove the plate then squeegee the mounting rubber dry so it's ready for the next plate your process. Between plates, you must dry the mounting rubber with a squeegee, or else the subsequent plates will not stick to the mounting rubber. Exclusive, assembled in the USA
Magnetic mounting rubber and rigid mounting rubber come pre-sealed. Over time, this seal breaks down. You can make touch-up repairs with our green die sealer. Apply green die sealer in a thin bead to the edge of the mounting rubber. Let dry overnight.
